Postdoctoral Position in Marine Micropalaeontology at the Department of Geoscience, Aarhus University, (ID 688420)

The Centre for Past Climate Studies at the Department of Geoscience at the Aarhus University, Denmark, invites applications for a position in marine micropalaeontology at the postdoctoral level. The successful candidate will be part of a research group studying late Quaternary and Holocene palaeoclimate and palaeoceanography of the larger North Atlantic region. He/she will partake in an international, multidisciplinary team, and the project will be carried out in collaboration with the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland in Copenhagen.

The position is funded by the Danish Council for Independent Research and Aarhus University and will be available for a minimum of 14 months, with possible extension, starting as soon as possible.

Job assignments

The postdoctoral project will be part of a larger project on the Variability of North Atlantic Ocean circulation in the late Quaternary from the polar region to the tropics. The precise details of the postdoctoral project will depend on the qualifications of the candidate, but will primarily consist of micropalaeontological and multi-proxy analyses of marine sediment cores.

Qualifications

The successful applicant will have a PhD in geoscience or related fields. Candidates should preferably have knowledge on Quaternary marine micropaleontology and/or recent marine plankton/benthic microflora and fauna, preferably benthic and/or planktonic foraminifera, although specialists in other techniques/proxies are also invited to apply.

The position will be based at the Department of Geoscience, Aarhus University. Participation in supervision of B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. students is expected.
