6 de mayo. Pregonar Ciencia desde Dinópolis. Teruel: Por Luis Alcalá, doctor en Ciencias Geológicas (Paleontología) y director gerente de la Fundación Conjunto Paleontológico de Teruel-Dinópolis. En Teruel existe un espectacular escaparate de la Historia de la Vida, preparado por profesionales en conservación de patrimonio, investigación y comunicación. Además de contribuir al desarrollo regional, pretende Dinópolis que la sociedad disfrute de los fósiles como testigos para desentrañar científicamente los avatares de la vida en nuestro planeta.
13 de mayo. El Parque de las Ciencias de Granada. Comunicación científica contemporánea.
Por Ernesto Páramo, director del Parque de las Ciencias de Granada. El Parque de las Ciencias es un museo de referencia en Andalucía desde 1995. Con un modelo de gestión que aúna lo público y lo privado en un consorcio, en este tiempo ha sabido evolucionar y crecer en fases; a punto está de inaugurar la cuarta (48.000 m2). Practica una filosofía según la cual hablar de cultura científica es hablar de democracia.
20 de mayo. Los Museos Científicos Coruñeses (=mc²), la apuesta de una ciudad. Por Ramón Núñez, director de (mc²). En 1983, el Ayuntamiento de La Coruña decidió poner en marcha la Casa de las Ciencias, el primer museo interactivo de titularidad pública que se creaba en España. Desde entonces, la ciudad gallega no ha cesado de incrementar los servicios públicos ofrecidos desde sus -ahora tres- museos de Ciencia.
27 de mayo. Museos interactivos y actualidad científica. Por Manuel Toharia, director científico de la Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias de Valencia y presidente de la Asociación Española de Comunicación Científica (AECC). Un museo interactivo, como el Príncipe Felipe de Valencia, no es un museo en sentido clásico -no cumple algunas funciones tradicionales como conservar o coleccionar- pero en cambio permite llevar a cabo otras, como las educativas no regladas, pero también, y sobre todo, funciones divulgativas.
Las conferencias son de entrada libre y se celebran en Ibercaja Zentrum situaco en la C/ Joaquín Costa, 13 de Zaragoza.

collections grant proposals, and specimen conservation experience are highly desirable. This position will be a permanent appointment after a one-year probationary interval. Teacher Professional Development Coordinator. Description: The Paleontological Research Institution (PRI) has an opening for a Teacher Professional Development Coordinator in Earth system science. This position is funded over the next five years by a National Science Foundation grant to develop teacher professional development resources to help secondary school science teachers use real-world regional and local Earth system science as the focus of an inquiry-based, systems approach to teaching Earth science. The project expands upon existing "Teacher-Friendly Guides" to Earth science of the Northeastern and Southeastern U.S., creating Guides and teacher resources for each of five other regions of the U.S.
The position involves two related means of coordinating teacher participation in the project: (1) organizing logistics of workshops and ongoing teacher support, working collaboratively in each of the five regions with secondary school teachers in advisory panels and workshops; (2) management of online resources and interactive tools associated with the project website (which will be created by an outside vendor). The online resources will include the Teacher-Friendly Guides themselves, together with an associated virtual fieldwork database and a variety of other tools for teacher interaction and learning.
Qualifications: Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills required. Experience in secondary school science education, in use of online collaborative tools, and website development very helpful. Should have
passion for Earth system science, Earth science education, and best practices in teacher professional development. This position is best for someone who enjoys using web-based technology, would enjoy organizing workshops, and has the capacity for traveling to numerous meetings and conferences. Salary within the range $30,000-$39,000, depending on experience. Position will begin by summer 2008 or earlier.

El Día de la Tierra se celebra el 22 de Abril de 2008 en todo el mundo. En España, una serie de instituciones y muchos geólogos se han ofrecido para pasar un día explicando cómo trabajan y cómo es nuestro planeta.Puedes encontrar mucha información sobre las actividades que se van a celebrar en cada comunidad autónoma en la web del Día de la Tierra.
Puedes incorporarte a muchas actividades con sólo presentarte en el lugar de encuentro propuesto. Allí encontrarás varios profesionales y estudiantes dispuestos a pasar unas horas en lugares donde es más fácil entender los misterios del planeta, en laboratorios donde se investiga la complejidad de procesos y materiales o yacimientos de recursos naturales de los que dependemos...

Presentación libro sobre aves del Moncayo
El proximo martes 22 de abril se va a presentar una nueva publicación titulada "Las aves y su entorno natural. Paseos guiados por la Comarca de Tarazona y el Moncayo" que edita dentro de la Serie Difusión el Consejo de Protección de la Naturaleza de Aragón en colaboración con la Comarca de Tarazona y el Moncayo. En esta amena publicación sus autores, Manuel Mercadal Ferreruela y Javier Gomollón Pérez, plantean al lector diferentes itinerarios ornitológicos por la comarca eligiendo a las aves como anfitriones naturales de estos recorridos.El acto tendrá lugar a las 19:00 horas en el Salón de Plenos del Ayuntamiento de Tarazona (Zaragoza), y en el transcurso del mismo Javier Lucientes Curdi, Profesor Titular de Patología Animal de la Universidad de Zaragoza, impartirá una conferencia sobre las aves y sus hábitats en la Comarca de Tarazona y el Moncayo.

Base de datos de fósiles de invertebrados en internet
Se puede consultar por internet la base de datos de los ejemplares fósiles de invertebrados depositados en la Paleontological Research Institution (EE.UU.). Esta colección tiene casí 15.000 ejemplares fundamentalmente de moluscos cenozoicos. Se pueden hacer búsquedas múltiples. Os adjuntamos la información que nos ha llegado
The Paleontological Research Institution is in the final phases of the computerization of its Type and Figured Specimen Collection. This NSF-funded project has resulted in the creation of an online database of one of the largest and most important invertebrate paleontology type collections in the United States. This portion of PRI's collections contains more than 14,800 specimens, with a major focus on Cenozoic molluscs. The collection also includes most of the types formerly in the Cornell University invertebrate fossil collection, which were transferred to PRI during the 1970s. Many of the specimens included in the database are published in PRI’s flagship journal, Bulletins of American Paleontology (the oldest paleontological periodical in the United States). The new PRI Collections database homepage www.pricollectionsdatabase.org provides detailed information about the types deposited in the Collection. Locality, stratigraphic, and publication information of each individual type can be accessed online as well as images of the primary types and their original labels. We are also pleased to announce that we are now part of Paleoportal, http://www.paleoportal.org, which enables us to
integrate our online specimen data with those of other major collections
