Oferta de trabajo en el Departamento de Paleobiología de la Smithsonian Institution

Se acaba de ofertar un puesto de trabajo como conservador de colección de la Smithosian Intitution (Natural Museum of Natural History) en Washington, DC (EE.UU.). Os adjuntamos la información que nos ha llegado por Paleonet. Se trata de una oferta solo para nuestros lectores norteamericanos.

The Department of Paleobiology is seeking a Museum Specialist to work with its fossil collections. Major duties will include cataloguing and inventorying collections, identifying specimens and archival documentation to be conserved/stabilized, answering questions regarding provenance or history of prior preparation, training department staff, volunteers, and
interns in the use of established computer application programs, and participating in conservation projects involving specimen and archival documentation.

Applicants will be ranked on:
1) Knowledge of a variety of established principles, concepts, and methodologies used in museum operations.
2) Ability to use a wide variety of software applications.
3) Knowledge of cataloging and registration software applications used to document collections.
4) Knowledge of conservation issues typically associated with fossil
specimens and/or archival documentation.
