Full-time Position: Collections Assistant at the Paleontological Research Institution, Ithaca, NY.
Description: The Paleontological Research Institution seeks applications for a one-year (with potential for renewal) Collections Assistant position. The Collections Assistant will assist the Director of Collections in the day-to-day management of the systematic and stratigraphic collections of the Paleontological Research Institution, including all aspects of conservation and use of the collections.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will be an individual who takes initiative, is able to work and make decisions independently, and has an understanding of museum/archival methods. The candidate should possess strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills and a working knowledge of invertebrate systematics. A Master's degree in museum studies, paleontology, systematic biology, or related discipline is required.
About the organization: The Paleontological Research Institution was founded in 1932 as a local research based non-profit. Our collection includes about three million specimens and is among the ten largest and most scientifically important invertebrate fossil collections in the United States.
