Craneo de Myotragus balearicus

 

Una foto realizada por el aragosaurero Pere Bover, investigador ARAID en el IUCA, ha sido seleccionada para la portada del número del Journal of Biogeography en el que se ha publicado el artículo liderado por Roberto Rozzi del German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) y Synthesis Centre for Biodiversity Sciences (sDiv) (Leipzig, Alemania) en el que colaboró. En el artículo “Causal explanations for the evolution of ‘low gear’ locomotion in insular ruminants” se analizan diferentes variables para explicar el tipo de locomoción “low gear” (lenta y potente) adquirida por diferentes rumiantes insulares.


En la foto se puede observar un cráneo del bóvido fósil balear, Myotragus balearicus, obtenido en la excavación de la Cova des Moro (Manacor, Mallorca).
