We are looking for an enthusiastic, skilled, qualified and experienced
individual to manage the Palaeobiology Laboratories in the School of
Earth Sciences at the University of Bristol. The facilities are divided
between two locations, and include laboratories for fossil preparation,
microfossil processing, microscope facilities, computed tomography,
computational and physical biomechanical analysis, phylogenomics, and
wet molecular biology.
You will have direct responsibility for running and maintaining the
research-grade Palaeobiology laboratories, and to support
Palaeobiology-related laboratory teaching within the School. The focal
aim of this role is to provide researchers with practical advice in the
design, execution and outcome-delivery of their laboratory research.
The Palaeobiology Laboratories Manager (PLM) is responsible for the
smooth functioning of all equipment in these facilities, for ordering
supplies, maintaining relevant laboratory budgets, attending to all
health and safety matters, and training students and other researchers
in proper use of equipment and facilities. The PLM is responsible to the
Technical Manager as their line manager and will collaborate closely
with academic research staff, post-doctoral and doctoral researchers, as
well as taught MSc, MSci and BSc students across the School.

SALARY: £30,728 - £34,565
