Biology tenure-track position beginning Fall 2009. Ph.D. in the biological sciences preferred but strong ABD candidates may be considered. Coursework competency should include genetics, introductory biology for majors and non-majors, and an upper level course in the candidate's area of expertise. The department is in the process of formally integrating concepts of evolution and natural selection into the introductory curriculum; candidates should address how they would contribute to this effort in their materials. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to the liberal arts tradition and a strong desire to combine undergraduate research and teaching in a student-centered college. Research interest is flexible, but preference will be shown to candidates who address botanical questions using an organismal approach. Ability to complement the College's environmental science program is a plus but not essential. The Biology department has excellent modern teaching and laboratory facilities, including a dedicated greenhouse.
